Sweep: Stand at sweep distance or about 2 steps back (just tap the back button and the character will jump back a whole step), or just almost half way. The spinning sweep doesn't really make me think you could ever pop up close enough to them to really turn it into something where you pass immediately. I'm thinking since we're talking about very similar starting positions off of some catches, we're talking about similar end positions on the ground. They'll take you straight to guard (though you can start the pass immediately) or they can take you straight to side dpending on if you're sweeping or running the pipe.
